As adopted at Pune in 1994 and amended up to the 46th All-India Biennial General Body Meeting, New Delhi, February 2022. Approved by the Central Board of Direct Taxes on 28 August 2024.

Amendment approved in 2024
By its letter dated 28 August 2024, the Central Board of Direct Taxes conveyed the approval of the Competent Authority to the proposed amendments to the Constitution, except Articles 21(vi)(a), 21(vi)(b) and 21(xv)(ii) relating to the election of the Central Headquarters.
As approved, the post of Finance Secretary is now filled through election at the All-India Biennial General Body Meeting, instead of on a nomination basis as was done until then.

What the Constitution covers

Under Article 28, no amendment may be made to the Constitution without the prior approval of the Government, and no change may be made unless it has the support of two-thirds of the delegates present at the Biennial General Body Meeting.
